Ageing prevention — what actually works, and what doesn't

An evidence-led guide to preventing premature ageing: SPF, antioxidants, retinoids and the daily habits that genuinely move the needle.

Ageing prevention skin care guide

Ageing is not a problem to solve — it is a process to support kindly. 'Anti-ageing' in modern skincare really means slowing the visible signs caused by sun, pollution, oxidative stress and a slower barrier repair, while keeping skin healthy enough to do what it does naturally.

What actually ages skin?

Five habits that genuinely help

  1. Wear SPF 50 every single day — the single biggest difference, full stop.
  2. Use antioxidants (Vitamin C, niacinamide, green tea) in the morning.
  3. Add a retinoid 2–4 nights a week once your barrier is happy.
  4. Layer humectants (hyaluronic acid, glycerin) under occlusive moisturisers.
  5. Sleep, drink water, and eat enough protein and colourful plants.

A prevention-first routine

Morning

  1. Gentle low-pH cleanser.
  2. Hydrating toner / essence.
  3. Antioxidant serum (Vitamin C, niacinamide or both).
  4. Lightweight moisturiser.
  5. Broad-spectrum SPF 50, reapplied every 2 hours outdoors.

Evening

  1. Double cleanse.
  2. Hydrating essence and peptide serum.
  3. Retinoid 2–4 nights a week.
  4. Nourishing moisturiser or sleeping mask.
