Seasonal skincare — how to tweak your routine for winter and summer

Why the same routine feels heavy in July and thin in December — and the small seasonal adjustments that keep skin balanced year-round.

Seasonal skincare flat lay with sun icon and winter knit

Your skin doesn't behave the same in July as it does in December. As humidity, temperature and UV shift, the same routine can feel too heavy in summer and too light in winter. Small seasonal tweaks make more difference than a whole new shelf of products.

Summer — light, protective, cooling

Heat and humidity push oil production up, sweat away sunscreen, and increase UV exposure. Aim for lighter textures, more frequent SPF reapplication and soft sebum control.

Winter — rich, repairing, barrier-first

Cold air outside and dry indoor heating strip moisture from the skin. Barrier damage, tightness and flakiness peak here. Prioritise layered hydration and quiet repair.

In-between: autumn and spring

The transition seasons are when skin often reacts — barriers get confused by changing humidity. Simplify. Focus on low-irritation cleansing, one hydrating serum, one moisturiser and daily SPF. Add or remove one active at a time as the weather settles.

Litsy runs seasonal edits — lighter K-beauty essentials for summer and barrier-repair sets for winter. Browse the shop for your season's picks.
